Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Head of Global Trade & Customs (GTC), you will be leading Metrea’s global trade export/import licensing operations in the United States. You will directly support the international growth objectives of Metrea and its assigned Business Groups and Business Units.
As a core pillar of GTC, this new role enables and furthers business globally by obtaining export authorizations, providing critical strategic trade advice, and facilitating business initiatives in compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You will work cross-functionally and with internal stakeholders for to drive business activities. You will additionally build relationships with relevant government regulatory agencies to further trade compliance initiatives.
The successful candidate will have a pragmatic approach to trade compliance, deep subject-matter experience, strong experience in defense export licensing, and effective communication at all levels of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision and pragmatic implementation of Metrea’s GTC licensing pillar
- Coordinate complex strategies in support of U.S. Government and non-U.S. Government activities through the development, submission, and/or use of export authorizations, exemptions, and exceptions. This includes, but is not limited to;
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate information is obtained to support export authorization submissions
- Ensuring timely submission and approval of export requests, as well as monitoring status of submitted authorizations
- Facilitating the activation and use of authorizations
- Facilitating the timely and compliant close-out of agreements, licenses, and exemptions / exceptions
- Service as an Empowered Official (EO)
- Develop, implement/embed, and streamline export licensing and authorization management standard work through effective teaming with and amongst the GTC team, Legal, Contracts, and Compliance team, and the business teams
- Develop and implement export licensing training amongst the enterprise
- Identify and resolve export issues, risk areas, and implications of emerging export issues
- Review, coordinate, and manage export licenses, agreements, and exemptions
- Ensure compliance with global trade export, import, customs, and record-keeping requirements
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of the ITAR, EAR, and AECA
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills
- Sound judgment and attention to detail
- A team player mentality, with ability to execute both strategically and operationally
- Flexibility and willingness to grow in an expanding business
- The ability to learn quickly, work with minimal supervision, and manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks
- Ability to problem-solve and to work under time-sensitive circumstances
- Self-motivated and results-oriented with ability to prioritize and make independent decisions
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and 5+ years of Global Trade experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience
Preferred qualifications:
- 8+ years of US export and import law experience
- Experience with DECCS and SNAP-R
- Experience in the jurisdiction and classification process
- Awareness of UK and EU global trade laws and regulations
- Experience with the application US and UK sanctions regulations
- Advanced degree
Position Location and Expected Hours of Work
- Role: Remote or at one of Metrea’s locations in Washington, DC; Annapolis Junction, Maryland; Tampa, Florida; Temecula, California; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Some travel to the other Metrea business locations will be necessary as part of the role.
- Full-time, position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.

Travel requirements are up to 15%
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance - Secret.
- Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little or no assistance.
