Job Description – BEAR Logistics Specialist - HVAC Systems must be the HVAC SME in all aspects of the HVAC field. The SME must have extensive knowledge of BEAR HVAC equipment which includes but is not limited to Field Deployable Environmental Control Units (ECU) -2 thru -5 and -9's, Tricon Refrigerated Container System, Advance Design Refrigerator 300, M-80 Boiler, WH 400 Boiler and 130K Heaters. The candidate must have extensive knowledge of HVAC principals and theory, system installation, removal, operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical systems and associated equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install and operate HVAC/R systems and equipment.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical system drawings and schematics, and installs HVAC/R components.
- Install, repair, fabricate, and test piping and tubing systems.
- Install, connect, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC/R controls.
- Test HVAC/R equipment for proper operation.
- Monitor system operation to ensure efficiency and compliance with technical orders, manufacturer handbooks, state and local procedures, codes, directives, and Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations for fuels, refrigerants, and hazardous materials.
- Maintain, and repair HVAC/R equipment and systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and seasonal overhaul on systems and components.
- Use drawings and schematics to analyze and isolate system malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Repair or replace components.
- Modify equipment for specific missions or to increase efficiency.
- Maintain shop tools and equipment.
- Advise on problems with installation and repairs to HVAC/R equipment and systems.
- Solve maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, wiring and schematic drawings, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics.
- Develop and establish operation and maintenance procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Must have high-school diploma or above with technical training aligned with position requirements
- A minimum of 10 years' experience and job knowledge is required with BEAR Base Systems and 15 years of DoD experience.
- Must possess an intensive, practical knowledge of BEAR Base equipment/system characteristics and properties in order to provide specialized information about equipment together with related advice to those who design, test, produce, procure, supply, operate, repair or dispose of equipment.
- Must possess knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems and skills in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex assignments.
- Possess skills in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data associated with their associated equipment.
- Skilled in identifying and analyzing complex technical and requirement problems and developing innovative solutions.
- Plan, organize, and reprioritize work when facing changing deadlines and must be able to effectively write and author reports based on assessments and evaluations.
- A Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field and capable of developing and verifying effective solutions to identified equipment/material deficiencies on new systems being evaluated.
- Must be capable of providing technical support and administrative assistance in the review and assessment of BEAR Base technical support requirements included in the operation and support plans, programming plans, acquisition plans, test and evaluation plans and design document/data, provisioning documents, etc.
- Prepare for meetings and presentations to include data gathering, evaluation and or presentation materials intended to recommend a course of action/strategy or report status/progress.
- Knowledgeable in writing background papers, staff summaries, presentation materials, etc., related to technical design, and operation.

- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of Tools, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
