PURVIS is looking for a Logistician to support the maintenance of heavyweight torpedo documentation, serial numbers, parts, and spares.
- Ensures all required heavyweight torpedo documentation is prepared and available for the cataloguing process; this includes coordinating with the following Technical Agents: Electrostatic Discharge, Packaging Handling Storage and Transportation, Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance, Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity, Transportation and Security, Controlled Inventory Item Codes, Demilitarization, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and the Ammunition Logistics Center
- Assist in writing White Papers on the new aspect(s)/modifications of Torpedo(es) to be catalogued.
- Maintain the NUWCDIVNPT seral number access database; ensure data is backed-up and create new reports and queries to improve the search ability of data.
- Respond to serial number requests from vendors; this entails verifying the serial number on the technical drawing, checking the serial number database for the next serial number sequence, ensuring those serial numbers have not been used in a Navy serial number database, and the requested quantity matches the contract.
- Enter serial numbers into the database and develop Authorization letters.
- Sight and verify parts from the warehouse to ensure they are the correct part, marked appropriately, not damaged, and are packed properly.
- Assist in packaging items to be shipped to vendors.
- Follow the process flow drawings for converting Exercise Torpedoes to Warshot Torpedoes, review the appropriate Job Sheets to identify parts required to complete the conversion. Prepare associated Mandatory Replacement List.
- Support sparing planning efforts by researching failed/maintenance reports, create a summary of failed spares to project future procurement requirements.
- Create and track Interim Hazard Classification (IHC) and Full Hazard Classification (FHC) Letters for Heavyweight Torpedoes and the associated components.
- Support preparation and tracking of parts requisitions for test/rebuild kits and spares.
- A High School diploma is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience supporting Navy systems.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Navy software systems.
- The candidate must have strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills, and be able to successfully work independently as well as in a team environment with customers, peers, and support personnel.
- Accuracy, quality, and attention to detail are also critical required skills.
Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
