The AFINC II contract supporting the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS) is seeking qualified Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) Engineer. The JRSS team oversees an enterprise DoD environment supporting the USAF that requires a unique and dynamic skill set. Responsibilities:
- Designs, engineers, and implements associated projects.
- Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration.
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations, and firewall technologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge with content switching and load balancers.
- Troubleshooting complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures and WAN/LAN connectivity issues.
- VoIP component configuration and deployment experience is a plus.
- Have a general knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
- Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
- Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
- Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
- Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
- Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
- Responsible for the full integration of the JRSS platform and associated support systems for the program.
- Design, engineer and integrate and operate the JRSS systems into AFINC architecture seamlessly.
- Resolves network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators.
- Monitors data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues. Activates scripts as alarms occur or issues surface.
- Troubleshoots problems using scripts and standard, routine procedures.
- Research issues to determine if problem may be resolved using predefined procedures.
- Executes scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. Identifies issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; Performs 1-4 problem determination.
- Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
- Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
- Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
- Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
- Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
Qualifications:
- Candidate should have 7+ years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on in:
- Enterprise network management, focusing primarily on Cisco devices.
- Installation, configuration, and support of network switches, routers, and wireless Aps
- Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GbE VLAN, and SONET.
- Experience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods.
- Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and management.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Strong working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco products and solutions.
- Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco IOS platforms.
- Excellent network hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to understand the organization's goals and objectives and implement solutions to meet those goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and IP subnetting
- Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP)
- Knowledge and experience with Juniper platform are a plus.
- Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the year, dependent on contract needs and requirements that may arise.
- Experience in directly managing teams of diverse technical personnel responsible for the daily operations.
- Technical degree, Associates or, bachelor’s degree in computer science/information systems, Science/Engineering/Math, or 7+ years’ relevant experience in Information Technology preferably within system or application administration is acceptable.
- Requires a DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification:
- CompTIA Security+ CE (Continuing Education)
- CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CE (Continuing Education)
- (ISC)² Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
- GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
- GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
- Requires at least one or more Computing Environment/Operating System (CE/OS) Defense Cyberspace Workforce Certification (DCWF) requirement(s):
- Paulo Alto – PCNSE
- Cisco – CCNP
- Active DoD Secret or higher required.
