Description
A General Maintenance Worker is fully qualified, trained, and knowledgeable in the support, maintenance, and operation of various systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide essential maintenance and repair services to ensure the proper functioning of facilities and equipment.
- Apply basic knowledge and experience to perform routine maintenance tasks, typically by following established maintenance procedures and guidelines.
- Document discrepancies using reporting forms as required.
- Perform building, electrical, and plumbing maintenance.
- Use and operate maintenance tools and equipment to perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventive maintenance using maintenance cards and instruction books.
- Diagnose and isolate malfunctions in various systems.
- Align, adjust, and calibrate installed equipment.
- Interpret maintenance manuals and prepare simplified versions.
- Perform maintenance, adjustments, and tests on equipment.
- Analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions, and replace defective components used in installed devices.
- Proficiently use diagnostic programs, interpret results, and use program listings to isolate faults.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals.
- Perform daily system readiness tests, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.
- Work effectively and productively in a team environment.
- Work independently, with normal supervision.
- Communicate effectively and exhibit interpersonal skills.
- Other duties and requirements as identified and/or prescribed to meet program requirements.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Demonstrated competence through satisfactory, progressive performance as a General Maintenance Worker.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ maintenance experience in environments of comparable complexity.
- Graduation from a high school or completion of equivalent formal training.
- Experience and competence in at least four (4) of the following areas:
- Electrical systems maintenance
- Plumbing systems maintenance
- HVAC systems maintenance
- Carpentry and building repairs
- Painting and surface repairs
- Groundskeeping and landscaping
- Use of maintenance tools and equipment
- General troubleshooting and repair
- Additionally, experience and competence in at least three (3) of the following areas:
- Operating power tools and machinery
- Performing minor electrical repairs
- Performing minor plumbing repairs
- Performing minor HVAC repairs
- Maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems

Security Responsibilities
- Obtain and maintain (if required) a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
- Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex word and technical documents/diagrams.
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.
Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills
Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

- Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.
